Designing for the environment, not against it

Green Design Architects is a small, dedicated practice based in South Hobart, Tasmania. Founded by David with over 35 years of experience, we specialise in sustainable residential and small-scale commercial architecture — from PassivHaus homes achieving 8+ star energy ratings to carbon-neutral buildings and Tasmania's iconic Overland Track huts.

Our Approach

Sustainability by design

Passive Solar Design

Harnessing the sun's energy for natural heating and cooling, reducing reliance on mechanical systems.

Low Embodied Energy

Selecting materials that require minimal energy to produce, transport, and install.

Water Conservation

Integrated rainwater harvesting and greywater recycling systems in every project.

Climate Resilience

Designing for future conditions, not just today's. Buildings that adapt and endure.
